The Bachelor S25 Episode 4: "Week 4" (Review/Recap)
Five new women arrive to compete for Matt’s heart...
Five new women arrive to compete for Matt’s heart—here is my review/recap of episode 4 of The Bachelor.
We start the episode with the aftermath of Sarah’s departure. Matt addresses his feelings, saying that finding that special person is not easy, but he sees that the women left want to be there for him and he is excited about that. But the women left...well it’s complicated, and a little mean girls...
Group Date #2 (Week 3 continued...)
Flash forward—its the next group date before rose ceremony #3 and it's formal, but relaxed. Women want to reassure Matt that they are there for him after Sarah’s departure—and want to potentially be with him after the show. MJ takes him away first to talk and Matt is eventually reassured that the women left are there for him.
But someone else steals Matt’s attention, and it's Chelsea. She connects with Matt and tells him how hard it was “being black” and being surrounded by a white culture and how it was hard for her based on her hair and how she felt like she had to straighten it everyday to fit in when she was younger. Matt tries to relate to Chelsea and then they end up kissing! At the end of the group date it's Chelsea who gets the rose.
Cocktail Party
So here we are, another rose ceremony is coming and there are 17 women left. The women feel like now they actually have the chance to have quality time to compete for Matt’s heart. So far so good, Pieper and Matt connect and they end up kissing. And then Kit makes an impression as well as Bri—Victoria then is talking to Matt but Chris Harrison interrupts their conversation to announce a BIG SURPRISE!
Chris Harrison leads Matt to the front of the resort and reminds him that there was a record number of applicants for him—and now, there are FIVE more women showing up to compete for Matt’s heart. The other women are pissed, saying “I feel disrespected” and the mood shifts from hopefulness to darkness.
Brittany, Michelle, Ryan, Kim, and Catalina are introduced. 22 women are now here. Brittany comes out first and wants to make up for lost time and immediately kisses him. Michelle makes a good impression and so does Catalina (wearing a crown) which Victoria takes it upon herself to forcefully remove from Catalina’s head. The tension is thick—and the original women “OG” are very upset about the new women. It’s honestly hostile as the insecurities are high.
But as the band Queen says, “The show must go on!” There is immediate tension as eventually Brittany makes her way and kisses Matt even more. The last major impression was Matt and Michelle, they both connect before the rose ceremony finally begins. And the question is whether or not Matt will choose the new five women over the OGs?
Rose Ceremony #3
Rachael, Serena P., and Chelsea are safe. Matt calls out the following women next: MJ, Pieper, Bri, Magi, Michelle, Mari, Ryan, Kit, Serena C., Abigail, Katie, Victoria, Lauren, Brittany, Jessenia, Anna, and Catalina. Four new girls made it! Khaylah, Kim, and Kaili are sent home—19 women remain.
Group Date #1 (Week 4)
The mood in the resort is tense—3 new girls are on the next group date and it’s going to get competitive. Ben Higgins (The Bachelor Season 20) shows up to host the group date and it's an obstacle course where the women are required to row across a pond in a 1,000 lb pumpkin, and then they have to dress up in a squirrel outfit, then search for an acorn in a pile of leaves, and then run to the end of the race to win.
It was funny to see—Magi was stuck in the pumpkin the whole time and other women were sabotaging each other by stealing acorns. Mari won the competition and got a trophy, but no extra time.
After Party
To begin with, the drama continues as Anna is trying to talk to Matt and then new girl Brittany shows up and interrupts them—and Anna is ticked off, saying to the audience that she knows “dirt” on Brittany. So who does Anna naturally tell? Victoria of course! After Brittany and Matt continue to connect and kiss even more, Anna, in a group setting, calls out Brittany and tells her she was contacted before the show about Brittany. Anna even calls out Brittany, saying she heard she was “an escort” and Brittany is immediately upset and denies the rumor.
But through the brewing drama—its Bri who gets the group date rose as they are seen kissing and continuing their relationship even further. Focus on Matt, not the drama ladies!
One on one date: Michelle
New girl Michelle gets the only one one one date this week—and the other women are angry about it. But Michelle stays strong and has a great time with Matt. Matt tells Michelle when he first saw her that he “felt something” and he wants to explore that.
Michelle and Matt have a fun day doing an extreme scavenger hunt and they zip line, pop balloons, and eventually go on a hot air balloon. Matt is impressed with Michelle, and likes that she is a teacher and that she is a former athlete. During the hot air balloon ride, Matt and Michelle kiss and you can tell Matt really likes Michelle.
Night Portion
Matt and Michelle continue to connect—where again Matt is impressed that Michelle is teaching during the pandemic and how she handled current events in the classroom, or in this case, online teaching. They are surrounded by old automobiles and eventually, Matt gives Michelle the rose, and they end up kissing in the back of an old vehicle and it's clear that Michelle is a new frontrunner!
Group Date #2
A lot has happened so far—but the episode isn’t over yet! There is another group date and it’s physical. Women are going to be fighting—well boxing. The women on the date are training and will eventually have to perform in front of a live audience—you mean in front of the other women.
It’s the “Battle for the Bachelor” and its hosted by Chris Harrison and Wells—the women begin boxing and its competitive and at times aggressive. Serena P. gets hit in the nose and eventually Matt ends the competition and its time for the after party.
After Party
Matt wants the women on the group date to have a relaxing date where the women can express themselves—without getting physical. Rachael stands out as she expresses to Matt that she was overwhelmed about the new arrivals but wants to focus on their relationship. Rachael and Matt kiss and they progress further. Another standout is Pieper, she tells Matt “dammit I like you” and then also they end up kissing.
But it's Katie who does something different, she heads over to Matt and tells him the women in the house are creating a toxic atmosphere and tells him there is serious bullying and accusations circling about—she asks Matt to address it and then the episode ends.
The next episode is airing Monday, February 1st at 8/7c on ABC.
